They will have a phone that straddles both sizes but now a phone that is about as big as the bigger cheap phones. I guess I am having trouble imagining they won't grow 20%.
Is there any contingent among iPhone users who actually prefer the current 4 inch size to any other? We know that their voice was strong in past years to the point where it seemed that the majority of iPhone users believed it was the perfect or nearly perfect size. Has this group disbanded, diminished, or are they as strong as ever? It's hard to imagine that most of the iPhone user base has shifted from "we love this size" to "we're biting our tongue until Apple finally gives us what we really want". If the new models of iPhones cease to be released in this size, could some of these people seek non-iPhones with their beloved preference (an S5 mini, for example)? If there's anyone left who likes a smaller screen, it would be wise to consider how they might react by changing their purchase patterns.
