Except the US is no where near a welfare state.
Except in Dem-controlled urban areas like Detroit, Chicago, and even San Francisco.

You can understand that not everyone has the same view of what a "welfare state" is. I would argue when a nation's social "safety nets" have left the country with debts exceeding 100 Trillion, at this point in time, that is a welfare state.
