Cisco, Regarding improved shareholder relations, it is good news that Accumed has listened to some of the owners of the company (us)...shows that they are an enlightened management in this respect. Regarding Neopath, if it is approved as a primary screener soon ( which I tend to doubt), then it means that the pathology lab is under even greater pressure to get it right when a suspicious or positive reading comes back from Neopath due to legal liability issues. Also, if a reading comes back from Neopath as negative, I don't see how the lab could could be free from legal liability if there is a mistake. I think a cytologist has got to review these slides again......The net result is that putting Neopath into the picture might make costs go up and not down.....I am not a lawyer and only guessing about the liability, but who do you sue if a false negative shows up from a slide read by Neopath.......If I should change my name to Georgia, I sure as hell would want my slide read by a cytologist than by a dumb (relatively speaking)computer! I would like to hear what Neopath has to say about these issues out of curiosity, but I would not want to be one of their stockholders. I still think Accumed has the best system because a cytologist gets to look at every cell on the slide and the human brain is still better than a computer as far as visual interpretation goes, I think. Accumed uses computers to keep track of cells on the slide and of the slide itself, and in this respect the computer beats the human. Only my dumb opinion as I am not a computer expert and can barely manage to on-line sometimes....ramble, ramble , ramble I would still encourage any readers of this thread to do their own market research....call up your local pathologist....ask his opinion....you might end up giving him advice....surprise, surprise...and then report back what you find out....don't be intimidated by the M.D...if someone in your family sends him a Pap smear, you are papying for it and it is his job to get it right the first time using the best technology available.
