Well to beat a dead horse, all of that is correct as far as it goes..

Problem is Congress is a representative body

They are only doing what keeps them in office

So the real problem lies elsewhere

As long as the American body politic is sufficiently fractured, misled, ignorant, xenophobic, disinterested and anything else that keeps the offending salons on the levers (brakes) of progress, it ain't going to change

I have decided to start referring to this phenomenon as the Rolling Brain Fart of Republicanism (RBFR)

Easier to use a single phrase to refer to the complex of symptoms that must be dealt with as a disease than chasing each of the elements of ignorance as they present

"The substance of this is hard to deny."

I'll deny it.

We have a group of folks in the Republican Party who have taken over who want no government involved in any part of their life, except to protect them from Mexicans with cantelope calves and 75 pounds of weed and gays in love. Some want to see the government involved in the life of Syrian leader Hearteater, but that's his life, and he lives far away. They don't want gvt to tell them where they can't dump their waste, or how to protect the safety of their employees, or how old a 6 year old boy must be before they hire him, nor how many hours in a week they can make him work. No national parks. No seat belt laws. Private prisons. Private debtors prisons. Private schools. No SS, medicare, medicaid, food stamps, no "no guns allowed", nothing. Just like they think it was.

Right on:

"

But as Greg Sargent explained, the president’s willingness to make these arguments publicly is important: “I’m not sure Obama has ever gone so directly at the idea that today’s GOP has become what some of us have been calling ‘post-policy’; that the basic imbalance resulting from that is the primary cause of reigning Washington dysfunction; and that on a fundamental level, press coverage is failing to reckon with these realities.”

There are those who choose not to believe this. Many in the Beltway – perhaps out of habit, perhaps out of laziness, perhaps out of blind adherence to a misguided ideology that dictates “both sides” are always to blame, facts be damned – prefer to believe that if radicalized congressional Republicans refuse to govern, Obama must somehow be responsible.
