Don't look back; there are 300 million of them out there, and there ain't no way yer gonna claw them back by force of law. There are also, very conservatively, 100 bullets for each, which is about half the number we manufactured in WW2 for us and a bunch of allies. Prolly closer to >1000.

I didn't say to ignore it, I said you divide the country and people when you concentrate on the most divisive of issues and that pragmatically when you do that it stalls all progress as we walk into our perspective corners. If people want to burn all their energies trying to argue the evilness of guns, then you are of course free to do so - BUT the elephant in the room is that for the vast majority of America gun legislation is not going to change.

If the senate goes to republicans, you think more gun legislation will be welcome? Of course not, but we could maybe make progress on changing our mental health policies.
