" (The stupid rules that prevent export of crude mean that refined products get exported instead). "

Interesting issue. While I am clearly free market free trader type of guy - as long as the export of products is not restricted can we not be a "king of refining"? Is not the export of products a big business?

I would like to see some projections of how are domestic supply crude characteristics meet our domestic refinery processing capabilities.

For instance, what would be the impact of another 550k bpd of light shale oil? How would it be processed.

But tomorrow one might wonder what the impact of Obama's CO2 delusions will have on the domestic refining industry. There are lots of furnaces in a refinery complex. Maybe we will be politically not allowed to be the "king of refining" as we may get our feel good jollies knowing we reduced refinery CO2 emissions by moving them and their jobs off shore. Plain and simple idiocy coming?

Bob

The rules about exporting oil and gas are 40 years old and not entirely stupid. Here is an essay that argues in favor of keeping them:

Keep American Crude Oil at Home President Obama and Congress Should Retain the Crude Oil Export Ban
