Carter, in four years, increased the debt by about 53%. Bush, in eight years, increased the debt by about 80%. And Bush was dealing with 9/11, fighting two wars, Katrina, plus added Medicare Part D. And the military was, arguably, less depleted at the end of Bush's terms than it was after Carter's; and Bush had to deal with the interest on 6T in debt he inherited.

Did Bush spend too much? Yes. But under the circumstances, not so bad.

Obama, in eight years, will have doubled the debt, while the economy suffered for his entire two terms. At least with Bush, we had a few good years, economically speaking, and we weren't having our asses taxed off as we are now under Obama.
