"I don't think there is any nice way of saying people need more education. We are a highly undereducated society."

It isn't cruel to state the facts, we are failing in the public education system and the kindest thing we can do for our children is to speak the truth to authority on this issue. I have demonstrated for you in the past another fact. Throwing more money, even a huge amount of money at failing schools does nothing to turn them around. You just ignored that and came back months later with the mo-money rant. Another fact is, when you support the resiliency factors of an at risk child it does make a difference in how much they will accomplish in school. This is a much harder struggle, which could be taking place at the community level. Hillary was right about it taking a village.

Good point. But people call you a moron for posting left wing dogma without providing a good circumstantial rational argument, not for demonstrating higher order thinking. I know you are capable of it but your loyalty to all things left wing is an obstacle to thinking for yourself. Your fear of going against the politically correct dogma is obvious. Plus, you need to proof read before you post. sorry.

"Calling me a moron or getting made is silly. I am posting ideas and getting angry of ideas is a bad habit."

Post a new idea, I dare you.

>> The Republican party fights higher order thinking which is just plain nuts.

Yes, but the Democrat party are a superior, highly intelligent life form.

>> The same is true of education. Like you say when you talk about higher order thinking people get intimidated or think you are an elitist. I don't think there is any nice way of saying people need more education. We are a highly undereducated society.

The problem, Koan, is you have no credibility on this topic. Because you lack any fundamental understanding of the subject yourself.

You pitch the same old, tired mantra out on the table: More Money. Those who understand the problem know that the money isn't the problem. The problem is that it takes two years and a quarter million dollars to fire a lousy teacher. The problem is that the federal government is too involved, throwing away perfectly good money that could be used productivity.

The k-12 budget for the Department of Education approaches 50 Billion annually and test scores are no better today than they were the first year the Dept of Education existed.

We have transitioned from a situation where students would work a part-time job to get through college, the way I did in 1972 to where kids in debt to a federal bureaucracy for their entire lives just trying to get a university education. All because of government's involvement in the university education system. We are raising generations of kids without college educations because of Democrats' "helping" by providing student loans.

There isn't anything wrong with our education system that couldn't be fixed by getting federal government out of the system. Unfortunately, the damage that has been done will remain long after the Democrats have left.

The only "solution" now is to kill the university system and replace it with modern, online university classrooms offering low-cost education. It may not be perfect, but at least it would provide some kind of opportunity for kids who cannot afford the government education they could have had in the past.

koan, I don't know what to say to you.

I can't imagine presenting your argument to a coal miner that's worried about his job and feeding his kids for another week.

If you want to appeal to people you need to start from the "bottom" and work up. You seem to be starting at the TOP and hoping it will drift down. It's like a "trickle down" theory for intellectual thought.

I know you're very nice guy and have the best intentions but you're not really accomplishing anything.
