Sam, when I read articles like that, it just makes me glad I'm agnostic, and can totally ignore all strains of religious foolishness. I don't find Judaism any sillier than any other religion. I'll happily press the button and navigate to the floor needed for the religious person.

I was captain of a USTA tennis team here in Salt Lake City. Our team had made it to the playoffs, and one of our best doubles teams was a pair of Mormon brothers. Locally, all our matches were played on Saturday, to respect the Mormon belief that no sweaty "work" should be done on Sunday. But, when we reached the playoffs, the national USTA did the scheduling, and my best doubles team could not play! Bummer!

Beautifully said, Sam. That's exactly the paragraph that jumped out at me and made me want to speak up, too

But I held my tongue. :)

There is great utility in meditation- whatever inspires it. And I'm a big fan of mindfulness. It's too bad there aren't more "observant" people and fewer parrots- but there you are.

I skipped that post but clearly should not have. The paragraph you highlighted is, to my mind, the very essence of religious appropriation of life.
