The mice weren't choosing to fast. They were forced. Religious groups, however, have chosen to fast for centuries.
But these folks, who we evolved from, never chose to fast. At times the hunting and gathering just failed to pan out, and they went hungry.

ROFL

There you go again. That's not anger. The mice god thing cracks me up.

And do you know what happens when you fast? You start to see things. You hallucinate. Any savage might figure that connection out. It's the same reason drugs are associated with religions. Humans like altered states of consciousness. That doesn't mean anything about God, or anything "speaking" to humans.

Further, because food was scarce, what better way to make it last longer in primitive societies than to find fasting to be a "good" thing (probably best to encourage fasting in times when the weather is bad and food stores are low, and to "celebrate" the breaking of the fast when times are good). I'd bet if you look at religions that arose in countries where famine was a problem, you'll find a dovetailing of fasts and times of likely famine. What a great way to take pressure off the food supply. It's the same reason you'll find gluttony being a big no-no in most religions. The practical implications of having a lot of gluttons impinging on a constrained food supply is just too horrible to contemplate.

As to your bit on posting, this is my thread now. I don't remember asking you not to post to me since I became moderator here- perhaps you are remembering the Dale-times? I don't remember when you disappeared. This thread will be a place where religious idiocy is contested. Always and often. Bear that in mind.
