When people attack religion by taking stories in the Bible literally, they are accepting the premises of the extremist kooks who want to take everything literally.

It is just nonsense to do that.

Yikes...I think mass confusion is setting in.

First, God didn't kill anybody...in the Bible or in the Holocaust or anywhere else. Men kill each other. God stays removed while we all exercise our 'free agency', but mankind does the killing.

Second, I was trying to answer Koan's question as to why God being all-powerful wouldn't prevent evil from happening and I threw back some theories advanced by theologians. I threw in my own WISH that if there is a reward system, Jews would get special treatment in order to balance the scales of justice. I don't know why that comment would offend anyone but I think it offended Alex. Now I wonder if it offended you perhaps.

Or it could be that it's just too late in the evening for a theoretical discussions.

I just know that I'm leaving town in 3 days and will be gone for the rest of the summer. Gotta quit posting but don't want to leave anyone feeling offended or thinking I believe in a God so weird that she would want no part of him or his heaven.

Seems to be a lot of confusion and maybe my post to Koan would be worth re-reading.

Have a great summer all. Wharfie, stay witty.
