Jews would get special treatment in order to balance the scales of justice. I don't know why that comment would offend anyone but I think it offended Alex. Now I wonder if it offended you perhaps.

it didn't "offend' me, i just totally don't agree with it

i do not see a god who sits on a throne and decides who dies and who doesn't, depending on his whims at the time

in fact for all i know when we die there may be nothing but nothingness, but i hope not

once again, i prefer to go where the dogs go, because as creatures go they have a habit of demonstrating unconditional love... unlike lots of humanoids and their various religions

enjoy your vacation

A good book to read is "God, a Biography" by Jack Miles; in which God's level of activity is traced in the Old Testament. It is clear, that early on, he does 'smite' some folks. Later in the bible he pulls back from direct action. Miles is a very astute religious observer, Professor at the Pomona colleges, ex-religion editor for the L.A. Times and was a Monk prior to getting really educated. His second book,, about the New Testament is called "Christ, a Crises in the Life of God"
