I realize that almost all the posters on this web site are Republicans. Not much point in insulting them or slinging mud, unless I intend to go into exile. If it weren't for me (the lone Democrat), you guys would all be in agreement. And how boring would that be??? I have no hope of converting any thread viewers to my point of view. But I intend to point out inconsistencies in some Republican statements. I read more than a few history books of a political nature, so my historical perspective is fairly honest.I'm not sure if the great gains we've seen are due to the current administration or in spite of it. There is more than an element of truth here. The national economy was being trashed the last two years of the Bush Presidency. When Obama too office there was concern that things could get a whole lot worse (much like when Hoover took office) or if the economy would recover. My take on it would be no matter who was elected, the economy was going to improve. Luck favored Obama when he took office. Many times being lucky is better than being smart. You have to back a long time in history to find a President that has been verbally abused as much as Obama. Abe Lincoln was ridiculed by everyone, and often compared to the great apes in cartoons of that time. Obama is not a socialist, communist, nazi, member of the muslim brotherhood, foreign born, anti business persona that many claim him to be. Bush can lay claim to his share of insults cast by the anti Bush crowd. But he did the best he could, and would have come out a better President if he had a better core of advisors. He also has been classy in not attacking Obama after he left office. (Cheney should take lessons in this matter). The last time the Republican party had such a major inside split (as it does now) was in 1912 when Teddy Roosevelt formed the Bull Moose Party because he felt that Taft was not following the correct progressive ideals. He lost the 1912 election to Woodrow Wilson in a close contest. I think Roosevelt was the first and last President to shoot a moose, so he and Bob Furman are of the same Party and on the same page. You are right KIrk...about idiocy of spending a ton of money for a college degree. Why get a 100K in debt for a job (if you can find one) that pays 40K a year. There are dozens a skilled jobs that can be learned at a much lower cost. Good cartoons ...thanks for posting them.
