OT Doren re: "Yeah he can help you discover the obvious."

I have a little more respect for my kids' growing sensibilities than that. Granted, first they had to get over their pop affliction. But by the time my oldest hit sophomore year in high school he was starting to pay attention to my music again, while at the same time paying attention to what the cool kids at school and around town were listening to or playing, as opposed to what the DJs had been cueing up at his junior high school "dances". Now he's constantly finding worthwhile indie rock, while at the same time routinely putting my playlists on random play just to hear what might turn up. I taught him how to rip music from vinyl and he's already added a dozen albums to my iTunes collection that way.

Meanwhile, his younger brother, who has yet to even hit high school, has the benefit of not only what he gets from me but also from his older sibling, plus has stuff of his own going on. He probably knows nearly as much about punk history as I do, and this summer he started his first band.

Bottom line, never stop learning.
