My feelings about this are existential.

I would like us to take care of the 50,000 kids now. And gently and properly. As they are here and keep on taking care of them as long as our government refuses to inact proper immigration legislation.

Our government is acting like assholes. No they are being assholes.

Now if we are harsh with those kids we are playing the assholes game. Make those fuckers pay. If they won't inact proper immigration (Boehner will not even bring it up for a vote), then make them pay by forcing them to appropriate money to help the kids and be good human beings.

Wharf, if we go hard on these kids we are playing the wingnuts game, and I will not be sucked into being an asshole to a bunch of little kids.

Wharf/Koan

We can provide aid and assistance and compassion before shipping them back. We have laws that must start being enforced. To do otherwise will only continue to bring a flood of more people from Central America. Why should these kids jump the cue? There are so many more poverty stricken kids. Not only the numbers that Wharf mentioned, but lets go to the continent of Africa and Asia. How many of these people are in desperate poverty?? Why not them??

Our immigration policy should be enforced and we should let in people with the skill sets we need and desire from throughout the world. And there are many quite skilled people throughout the world that would love to come here but are waiting for their turn as quotas are applied to various countries.
