That was a very bizarre posting by Koan and surely he is not aware of the many problematic lesbian couples. They certainly have track record that isn't any better if not worse than traditional couples.

However, without concern for that why on earth was he wishing a daughter would be a lesbian?

There is little doubt that remark was made for effect. It is just too strange.

"Son, you've disappointed me. I always wanted a gay son, and here you've turned out to be a damned heterosexual."

I don't know but it seems pretty odd to me.
