Hi Abi and all, Thanks for the cute Christmas card - great idea! I've had a bad flu and been going thru a terrible self-centered funk lately. I am traditionally a bah humbug grinch during Christmastime - of course due to my self centered nature, which God has been working on diligently lately. Praise the Lord. He has to work overtime on me -ggg- I'm a mess! Our pastor gave a sermon on giving to the homeless on Sunday night from Deuteronomy 15. In there be among you a poor; man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother. Deuteronomy 15:7 He discussed the importance of this action and that we can't just end our relationship with the Lord when we walk out of the church. He also said that our church's blessing was being held back because we were not doing our job and responsibility in this area. Homeless people are just like us, they put one pant leg on at a time. Maybe they got a bad break, a divorce, lost job and entered in a downward spiral that they could not arrest. I've felt many times in my life depression and hopelessness and entertained the possibility that I could end up pushing a shopping cart, but by the Grace of God go I. When you look at all the wealth in the world, there really is no logical reason for homelessness - only the illogic of greed. Many people have forgotten the reason for the season, that a Perfect child was born in a humble manger in Bethlehem, that God came to earth in the form of a beautiful perfect baby that would grow up and show us the way home. I think Jesus would be most happy this season, if we celebrated Him and magnified Him by helping some of His forgotten children. This would be the sweetest birthday gift we could give. Amen!?! Mother Theresa has gone up to fellowship with Jesus, we need to pick up the torch. Merry Christmas, Bob
