It would have been less of a problem if the banks had made the effort of actually making loans instead of freezing all the credit.
Can you blame them? After going nuts with the lending, they gotta slam on the brakes.

Personally I don't think QE did much to revive the economy. Waiting it out (like you mentioned) was the best course of action.

I think in the next 2-5 years, we're going to see inflation finally pick up steam due to many factors, and it won't be pretty. It'll likely be a repeat of the 1970's.
