Don't forget steppers which ship in the first third of '99 will require laser deliveries in the latter part of '98. This is assuming that laser integration times remain close to historic levels(4 months for steppers and 6 months for step and scan).

So, in order to determine how many lasers Cymer will ship in '98 you need to know how many steppers will ship in the early part of '99. I haven't seen any stats looking that far out, but based on the press releases from Canon and Nikon there will be continued unit growth in DUV tool shipments. Thus, I believe 550 - 600 units is a very acheivable number for Cymer.

RE: the main risk to be assessed is whether Cymer can maintain high
market share that seems to be built into CYMER growth projections.


I agree and am betting on Cymer.
