Great comments!
What if your tires did the same thing when you started up your car? I'm below the minimum PSI you'd want for these babies....time to add some air or check for a problem".

My cars both do this already. It is the equivalent of an engine idiot light but for tire pressure. What would be far more useful is if ALL these system tests would run a system check maybe once a day at night in the garage then send an email or text if it discovered any problems so I don't have to wait until the last minute (maybe when I turn on the windsurfing van once a month during the winter when I need to haul something) to find I can't use the vehicle. Same with tire pressure... if you pick up a nail when driving, it might take a few hours to run flat... so have the car check pressure 2 hrs after driving and send an email or text if out of spec.

Finding out you have a problem before the last minute would have benefits for most I think, but they have to keep the cost low. If they are going to charge me $5 a month for a car I drive 3,000 miles a year... I'll skip unless I can activate for when I do a lot of windsurfing.

Hi OX..... The real problem is that people are not as observant as they should be.

The first sign of refrigerator problem is that the freezer is not keeping stuff frozen.

The first sign of tire problems is that the car pulls excessively to the right or left. This is amplified when breaking.

Now if a driver is too busy sending text messages and updating their facebook account to notice their imminent car problems........let e'm walk. Automotive education is expensive.....lack of observation even more expensive.

The milk thing.....I live in rural America......lots of roads that are difficult to navigate in bad weather...(snow, ice, washouts). For 75years, shoppers in this area check the fridge for perishables and cupboards for canned goods prior to departing for the shopping center. A few extra trips back to town for some minor items cures the milk forgetfulness problem. (gas costs money and going back to town kills even more time).

Now if you want more junk e-mail, and junk text messages......get in contact with your fridge, washing machine, light bulbs and tires and they will be happy to accomodate you.

Ox, my viewpoint would be....The heck with the IOT...." The best profile is no profile."

I'm a fan of many of your postings on stocks...so don't take this personally.
