From what I can surmise it seems that the techs are being hit very hard almost totally because of the asian crisis. Unfortunately, CPQ whose asian exposure is minimal at worst is being caught up in this whirlpool. As was said before, this mornings lowering of CPQ's earnings will be a benefit in the long (1+ month) run since the concensus and whisper #s will be trounced. Yet, with the unforeseen and unknown world monetary overall impact who knows just when CPQ (and us) will get its deserved upswing. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF WHEN NOT IF !!
