Thuggish behavior is sometimes twisted through political lenses. The 'freedom fighters" standing up to communism became the Taliban standing up to modernism, and the USA. The federal police, especially the ATF, were called "jack booted THUGS" in the 1990's by many conservatives in this country. Many US Civil War marauders - documented drunken killers and rapists - were seen as heroes by the confederacy. War is hell, shrug, right? Saddam Hussein represented a minority party that resorted to thugism to stay in power... Went to war with Kurds and Iran. We sold weapons to both sides, including bio weapons to Saddam Hussein. Then again, along with Saddam, many geopolitically challenged hawks later called for the bombing of Iran too, until this latest mess has us FRIENDS again.

There is a great PBS Frontline show done on IRAQ. Guess what? We Never had a plan. Year after year no plan , just reaction, day after day ,year after year. Simply UFB how this could happen after Viet-Nam. pbs.org Our plan now to get Sunni ,Shia, and Kurd to kumbaya is total fantasy. We have watched our country squander our wealth and leave us destitue. So Ronald Reaga(u)ns plan worked to leave so much debt behind that when the democrats took over they would not have funding for social programs. Eventually the rich democrats joined the rich republicans and went along. Today we have the rich democrats supporting the rich republicans and vice versa:O( The Wealthy American Party. And they all suck.
