Ummm... over 25 million Californians live on the coast... that's twice as many people as live in Ohio total.

I have no argument with that at all.

Some regulations are downright stupid. My proposal for worst regulation of all time was the phase-out of CFCs from inhalers for asthma. Probably close to a billion in direct R&D costs, and then maybe $4 billion a year for a decade in extra cost to the health care system because all the generics are gone. You could have gotten rid of an equivalent or greater amount of CFC's for 1% of the cost or less by properly recycling old air conditioners or refrigerators.
