<Have not read any reports about the parent's involvement by way of consenting. < Agree.. I guess I am just assuming and taking a position that a 9 year old girl didn't find her way into the middle of the desert to a gun range by herself, pay the fee, and then a gun range allowing the 9 year old in question to fire a fully automatic assault weapon, without someone with legal guardianship signing a "release of liability/consent" at some point in this tragic chain of events. There are usually free market insurance companies that muck up all the fun, with sign here, and here , and here events. Heck, we thought our son was not mature enough to drive at 16, even though the laws say he is. So we, as his legal guardians, prohibited him for obtaining his drivers license until he became an adult at 18. When he turned 18, he said he wanted to wait another year, and then got his license at 19. We took our responsibility as parents to prevent him from an activity that, although legal, we felt was not in his, and others best interests, That is what parents are for. Just because he wasn't ready to drive at 16, doesn't mean other teenagers are not, and should not be allowed the freedom to drive at 16. Kids don't need friends as parents, they need parents as parents. PCSTEL
