I believe she is trying to think of a way to change the culture so that black children can succeed at the level of white kids. Something in our culture is broken and she gets that. That black children continue to have babies that then often end up uneducated, unemployed, and often in jail - or pregnant - is a harsh reality. Looking at the problem honestly doesn't mean that thinking of some better way is racist for gosh sakes. ......We have been throwing absolutely huge amounts of money at this problem - and some liberals feel good I guess at the simple solution of throwing even more money at social programs that just don't make things better. Conservatives are no better in their throwing money at DARE as they don't seem to see a war that isn't worth fighting. Well DARE hasn't worked either. All that DARE seems to do is fill up jails. More of the same isn't the solution koan - and looking for another answer is JUST EXACTLY the conversation America needs to have - and the sooner the better. I'm not sure about Katelews solution, but something has to happen to break the cycle.
