Sector, ASND is indeed first in OC-3 FR (B-STDX 9000). I talked to a high-level source at CSCO. He admitted that STRM has been losing FR & ATM market share against CSCC. He is concerning about competition from the CSCC side of ASND. He mentioned CSCC has done a great job in introducing a barrage of new products amid a merger, product transition, mktg & sale force retraining, employee turn over. The employee turn-over in CSCC engr is less than 10%, low by the Silicon Valley std. IMHO, the telcom, and datacom infrastructure equipment sector should do well for the remaining of this century. CSCC would go along way in helping ASND achieve its financial goal. It's amazing that most people don't know that ASND is much more than just a RAS co. I expect the core switching rev. will be a higher % of total rev. in FY98 at least until the modem std is approved and deployed full scale.
