Hi Kirk, I think that there is a lot of Sapphire on the near horizon, for any high end tech product.

Sapphire will become the new standard.

I have read where there are about 190 producers of Sapphire worldwide, (Most in China)

GT Advanced Technology produces more Sapphire that the other 189 producers combined.

Lots of talk about how much Sapphire will appear in Apples new product.

One clue would be that if a surface is curved then it is made of Sapphire.

Its very probable that both GTAT and Corning GLW (gorilla glass) will prosper greatly. Corning is concentrating on the automotive sector for increased sales of gorilla glass. Its not a case of of one product dominating the other. Both will do very well.
