I hope I don't have to read them in order.
You'll probably regret not reading them in order, as Joe Pickett and his family (and their circumstances) read in a very specific order.

Assuming you're reading that series, of course. :)

You don't have to read the Joe Pickett novels in order, but if you do, you'll understand some of the backstory behind the events mentioned in subsequent novels.

I have Stone Cold, and it is probably my least favorite of the Joe Pickett series. Let me know what you think, and don't be discouraged if you don't like it.
