Bill Jackson, I beg to differ with your assessment of AMD ability to borrow. How else could Jerry have financed his jet? Bottom line is US Banks are flush right now and dripping to lend. Credit is cheap. AMD is not stupid either before starting production of the k-6 they lined up money to equip Fab 25 to the hilt. AMD financing came in tow parts sale of $400 million in Senoir notes and $400 million Bankline fiancing. AMD new Fab-Dresden was financed almost entierly by Germany goverment subsidies and guarantee to Dutche Bank. AMD winds up with a $2 billion State of the art Fab for the paultry sum of about $300, to $400 million. AMD aslo has close to 500 million in cash or cash equavilants. So AMD is not crippled to ramp up. Also if need be AMD could spin off Vantis. Look at the market capitalization for Altera for an idea of what vantis would be worth in a spinoff move.
As for Doj action Intel faces don't be suprised if Intel is examied closey for Preditory pricing practices. Of coarse they listen to you and Paul the Justice department will have no problem catching Intel... Reno style right after they take care on Microsoft and find that Chinees guy...Charlie Wong.
