My guess is that if I took a close look, I would see all sorts of conceptual problems, operational problems, sample size, and so on. My own experience is that there are decent, rational folk among conservatives and some not so; and ditto among independents (not committed); and ditto among the liberal to fairly liberal. And some not so decent, rational in each group. I don't see spending the time to track the literature down, carefully examine the studies, and so on. Got much more that interests me. I would much rather approach the many folk who disagree with me politically as just that, disagreeing. We can talk about it, reach points at which issues cannot be settled, and so on.
