Well, there's always Allan's post

Message 2892546

with the catch that the stock had to close near it's previous all time low and truly double bottom instead of the pseudo-bottoms we were hearing about awhile ago.

But if you are really pessimistic and want your max tax gain, you could wait for it to completely crash. The shorts don't appear to be in any hurry to cover. This has been one of the more interesting learning experiences I've had, watching ancr since July and August. We still haven't had a capituation sell off in my opinion, and maybe that's what's needed to get things rolling again.

Ed

Essentially an exceptional outlook for ANCR and Fibre Channel next year was the reason DB issued a BUY for ANCR at upwards of $5.50/share. There have been no news releases in the last week or so. As you are no doubt aware, a large percentage of investors are enjoying very significant gains in their portfolios and have been selling the ANCR's AMAT's, ASND's BAY's, and most recently Cisco, Compaq, etc. in an attempt to offset those humongous gains.Practically all of the techs were also battered on speculation of a recession in Asia that could potentially result in a glut of components coupled with the possibility of consumers exhibiting a lesser appetite for computers. There is to date no sound evidence that either scenario is occuring, however, the techs are paying the price just in case. If you feel Ancor may be going down the tubes, so to speak, you should definately sell now else it could become a penny stock by next week <g>!

If you sell on the 16th, you have to wait a month in order to qualify and keep your loss. I doubt seriously that the stock will be at this low level by this time next month. If what eveyone says is about to become true concerning fibre-channel, it will cost more to get in by then. There is enough business in this area for everyone. Everyone is waiting for the trigger to buy. That could be news from the company or the industry.
