Just try to be a little bit fair.

1) there is nothing wrong with floppy technology. In fact, it is more reliable then Winchester HDD.

2) SparQ is selling for $199 including 1 cartrige. The lowest price I saw is $18X.XX.

3) SyJet is on promotion and have similar cost per MB as SparQ but this will change when you buy more cartridge.

Oh, Thanks Dave for the link to Iomega information page.

What is a "La Cie" Jaz Drive?

Page 128 of the current PC Connection shows a Jaz drive made by a company named "La Cie". The picture shows a recognizeable Iomega Jaz disk inserted. The word "Jaz" is spelled with one "z" and is not acknowledged as registered or a trademark. Does anybody know what gives here?

>>However, he tried to steer me to Syquest, saying that Iomega uses floppy disk technology and Syquest uses hard disc technology.<<

One thing so many people seem to forget is that floppy technology is more durable. You can drop floppies and they'll be fine, but if you drop removable hard disks of any kind (such as Jaz) it's much more likely they'll break. This has always been something Iomega has had working for it against Syquest, and it may have been the reason the Zip beat out the supposedly better EZ 135. This is also the reason I invested in Iomega back when all they had was the Bernoulli--people drop their disks so they'd better be durable.
