"I don't see any value in U.S. involvement"

You think population is too high. This reduces population.

The problem is large. What Ali in her book Infidel was trying to tell the world, is that what we are seeing with Isis is not radical Islam, like so many keep saying, but rather sort of the norm. Especially as they treat women. Which is a great barometer.

John Stewart had a lady on the other night who wrote "underground Girls of Kabul", where families raise their Girls as boys to a gain status and then a lot of them don't want to go back at puberty as they do not want to give up their freedom. And even many liberals refuse to condemn this behavior in the name of not meddling in another's culture.

But what bothers and worries me most is that all it takes is a few beheadings and our RWers go nuts and want war. And at that point we all follow along. And does anyone ever mention the hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims we killed in our last war in Iraq. Never. Or the many millions displaced or had their homes destroyed. Seldom.

No one even notices. Talk about egotism, we Americans are disgusting in our egocentric behavior. We get melodramatic about 2 beheadings or 9/11, but compare that to what we did to Iraq for no reason, or have been doing in Afghanistan. That is the reality I carry around in my head.

We damn near destroyed the entire country of Viet Nam even (to save it-lol?), going so far as to literally destroy the wonderful forests (so they could see the enemy!!) with agent orange where vegetation still doesn't grow. That was one of the great ideas of our military. And we all went along with it like the dumb fxxks we are.

Well, not all of us, we liberals caught on quickly and we marched in the streets in the 60's, but we are few in number.. I marched and protested constantly and got gassed with the rest of the insightful ones with a conscience in our country.
