RE:Supposed loss of Competitive advantage

If you read the earlier posts, you would know that DELL has a 14% price advantage over the channel. In order to get a contract from DELL, CPQ or the distributor has to throw in 10% before taxes to match DELL's bid. This is before DELL cuts its price. That cuts the profitability of CPQ,HWP or IBM to the quick.

If DELL wants to take lower margins it can put them under water.

Mav, I pretty much shot this down already with my 5% dell discount post a few minutes ago...
cpq isn't releasing thier tier 1 prices with this since they are lower
than dell and by allot more than 1%....

the real story is why all these mega dellites didn't know about this 5% discount for vertually no real garauntee to purchase.
they claim I don't buy anything from dell and know zip about dell
and I had to bring up why 1% couldn't be the number.

Maverick,
Hi!!! Had already read the one article...am quite interested in seeing how all this pans out the next two quarters or so...there is no question that the others had to change or they were doomed to lose even more share to Dell...I find it extremely interesting and seriously question their margins...Dell is doing everything it can to keep their margins high...the plant restructurings and direct sales on the internet...the enticement of business to the web with inventory being accounted for future use....All of these and more reasons I have read about account for the two quotes that keep me convinced that Dell is the winner in the long haul...1. "I believe we are too far ahead and have other objectives on our mind"....2. "I find all this amuzing"...
Thanks for the info...I do consider both sides...I too am amuzed
Best,Kemble
