Rocky,

When your behind the curve like Sony is, the best you can do is FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) up the market place. IMO, the problem is that they can't build a reliable device at the appropriate price point to follow through on their promise of delivering a next generation device that is compatible with old generation media.

Beyond the fact that not many people care about a having a multi-generation device, Sony is going to have a difficult time building a product that performs to high performance specifications with new media and is able to live with the $00.39 media that we've been carrying around in our coat pockets for the last 6 years.

I've been playing the plug compatible game for many years, and this one stretches the limit. I would have been much more concerned if they (Sony) had announced and delivered the product without the promise of 1.44MB compatibility. Even then, as has been pointed out on this thread many times, Sony has never been a company that prices product with a buy the market mentality. I doubt they will start now.

I guess we'll just have to wait to see how it plays out. In the mean time, I'm long IOM.

Happy Holidays,

Vaughn
