How much did you pay, in all, including Apple Care, and how do you think your seamless experience would have differed if you had a different brand of phone with everything on the cloud, you ordered your new phone for delivery, and you just swapped out your SIM card and were done?

Like iOS, Windows Phone also has comprehensive cloud backup (as of Windows Phone 8)-- when buying a new phone, everything restores over the air. My brother bought a new Lumia 635 for $80 yesterday, restored his old phone from backup in 10 minutes. Hard to beat that for value.

Ryan, I got in and ordered my phone online from Apple to be picked up at the store so I could get extra support in the transition from them. My local AT&T, they are just slightly lame. I got the 128GB gold iPhone 6, to be delivered to the Louisville store, and paid $299 as I was due an upgrade in my plan. I got an e-mail from the store on that Thursday before they were to become available telling me that I could come in anytime, starting tomorrow, that Friday. I went in that Friday and it was a madhouse but I was the only person there, at that time, who had a phone waiting for them. That line was wrapped around half the mall. Moving on the store offered me $120 for my old phone and I bought the Apple Care deal.....I always get that. I have had two MacBook Pros, 2 iPods, 3 iPhones and 1 iPad and I've been an Apple stockholder for years. One Christmas a few years ago I bought iPods for all my family (that's a short list, sadly) and had them engraved. I know this is TMI. So, I guess I'm all in Apple. To me another phone is just another phone. I do take care of them because I use them so much and don't want any down time. I have over 1000 songs on tunes.
Everybody, Be Well.
Sus.
And.....I have been a member of this board for many years and have the T shirt to prove it. Maybe 20 years. Some of those people who interacted with me on just a few different boards, I fear are no longer with us.
Just reading down further on what you were asking me, Ryan, I don't know about having a different phone and how that would have worked. I know that they had some device that when he "scanned" my phone, he said, "Great, you're backed up on the cloud". He did switch out SIM cards but it did take about three hours for all my apps to load completely......I have a lot of apps. As I mentioned, I've bought some type of protective case for all my previous iPhones so getting one for this is just no difference. This bending story is just noise, for me, unless that stock price is suppressed for some extended period of time!
Later.
