An interesting detail is that the spike for Apple, which has occurred with each new iPhone release, is notably smaller in magnitude this time around. That doesn't mean it won't accelerate in October, but for the moment, it's less of a boost than seen in the past.

This sounds worrisome and authoritative, but it's actually not true. For whatever reason, iPhone browser share by stat counter actually decreased during the Aug-Sept-Oct months that correspond to the 5 and 5S launches in 2012 and 2013. The increase in browser share typically happens a a few months after launch. The "spike" we see in Sept and Oct this year is the exception to the rule.
