There might be a happy medium as for learning at university, no need
for either extreme to be a winner.

Thanks for the lesson between mandarin and cantonese usage,

As to English learning, the students study more diligently, and on average better at English than those in Hong Kong.

This is good..

Means they will be able to participate in the universal mind, ie the greater internet, during their lifetimes

Won't have to wait generations for the great Mandarin language revolution to be the primary means of communication as we have been warned is imminent

Currently in the US anyway, that is primarily useful in negotiating returns of poorly produced shoes and sunglasses

In short two or tree sentences what is the difference between " Cantonese" and "Mandarin", why the two languages co-exist and why China as per your writing adopted Mandarin and not Cantonese, and last is there a heritage / cultural issue attached to each language.
