She is clearly much more technically competent on semiconductors than Read. It is useful to look at what MediaTek has done vs AMD during the last three years. The timing clearly indicates things have degenerated this last Qtr and likely guidance going forward is going to be poor as well.

I can't speak to Read........never heard of him while at IBM......but he did impress me as a typical IBM stuffed shirt managerial type............Lisa is far from that.........I can say she is perhaps the most singularly driven person I have ever known...I knew her very well and worked with her on the .25um generation......I will say it was the last technology generation where IBM had an indisputable lead over Intel..........she eats, sleeps, breathes, this stuff.......to the exclusion of all else......look at her background ......I'm sure she sees this as an opportunity to excel where no one has before. Of course, you need a good team of horses to stay in the race......plus with AMD being a couple quarters away from insolvency, you can't take too many chances. She will stay on top of things..........and push people to excel. I see this as a distinct step up from Read. I think I'll try to contact her and offer my congratulations and wish her well.
