Right on, Lee. This thread is getting hard to read.
What the original 56'ers have in common with those "outsiders" is a lust for knowledge. When someone posts the IBD ratings, they deserve a thank-you, for example. The "middle-school" responses on this thread have been really disappointing. I would like to see discipline exercised and egos exorcised. Differing opinions make stock markets and provide education by offering a new point of view. We need to 1. avoid all name-calling, 2. avoid responding to those with obviously non-constructive comments, 3. be tolerant of dissension and 4. be big boys and girls about our hurt feelings 5. take care to phrase our comments in unaggressive terms. A little diplomacy goes a long way.
These threads are intended to be a forum, and the aggressive and paranoid responses that sometimes show up are counter-productive. The good news is that this thread has attracted a lot of new people's posts. The bad news is that the lack of discipline and cohesiveness in this group is destroying it's effectiveness. This needs to be changed now, or good people will stop coming here.

Lee,
<< I watched in mounting puzzlement and disgust as some non 56 regulars who
offered dissenting ideas, experience, and information have come under knee jerk
attacks of the most egregious nature. >>

I have to disagree with you about the seeming intent of the "outside" posters. Many of the posts were attacking the intent of this thread and the integrity which I believe is very high. The tone of the dissent was to a large degree that this was a pump & dump thread. That was not constructive and inflamatory and not true. This was a typical outside flame war attack on this thread. Something I've seen many times on SI since I've been here. This and the other 56 threads are in my opinion the best and most open and honest effort on SI to share information about stocks. Jmo, Bob.

Lee Reed:

Don't give up on this thread too doon. I think the quality will show through as soon as we can get past the indignities of the past few days. There is a lot of talent here, we may not always be right, but our hearts are in the right place. We welcome all who want to help find the stocks that we can all make $$$ on. After things calm down, I think the true worth of the thread will shine through.
