<<DEEP BLUE LASER:

Does cymer have anything to do with this article??>>

Yes! If you want a spectrum beyond blue call up CYMI. They have one beyond blue spectra, called Deep Ultra Violet.

Just some humor.

Brad,

I believe Cree Research in Durham, NC has something to do with blue lasers. Here is the SI profile:

[blue lasers]

No, Cymer has nothing to do with this. These are little diode lasers, that will pack all the punch of a laser pointer. Cymer isn't doing diode lasers, and those who do are not competing in the laser photolithography market, as is Cymer. But a blue laser pointer would be nice. For example, it would enable a *white* laser pointer.

Blue laser: I asked the same question about a month ago and was told that CYMI's excimer laser and the blue laser described in your article are not even close. CYMI's lasers are $400,000 each, and to be commercially successful, these blue lasers will have to be well under $100 so they can be used in CD and DVD players.
