This is the biggest and highest stakes game for the future of the free internet as we know it.

Oh, the drama!

It'd be like your electric utility saying every home within our operating territory will have a mandatory installation, at no charge to the consumer, an electric hot water heater, furnace & heatpump.

Nobody would ever allow that....would they?

Uh, why wouldn't I want that? Free equipment? I there some reason I wouldn't want free equipment?

<nonsensical ranting deleted>

Your arguments are absurd. You don't have a choice of OS? Why not? Do you live in communist China or something? Mac, Linux, OS/2, Solaris, etc. What are those?

where does that browser point on startup? MS.

Where does Netscape browser point on start-up? Netscape. Please defend your position on this.

MS has the right to do anything they want. If they want to sell you a product that links diretly to their homepage, THEY CAN!. It's called capitalism - look into it.

If you don't like their products - DON'T BUY THEM!!! Stop telling me what I want as a consumer and let me decide - not you, not the goverment.

>>It's not a Browser War, it's a 'eyeball' war. As who controls the on-ramps to the internet...if MS has their way you'll come onto the information super-highway thru their door.

Exactly. eyeball and mindshare is far more important. It is free for now to get through the gate. But once it becomes an integral part to your way of life (like Gates envisions), then you'll start getting charged. I can't help but mention the increase in NT pricing. Now you're hooked, now we hike the price up (2-4 times I think)..
You see, Bill Gates is giving us all the clues of the puzzle. But some are blinded (and impressed) by the psychological part of this chess game. Concentrate on the board. will you!

I second you.
