That is very ambitious. I don't know if you are right or wrong, but I didn't spot any flaws in your analysis.

With 20:20 hindsight, do you think the committee that selects the stocks for the Dow would have replaced three stocks with three that under performed what they removed? The answer is probably do they care more about performance or an accurate reflection of what they want to measure?
