yeah, and TI once offered a PC with a TI processor. It was a good one too.

I see this announcement and what not as an indication of intel's desire to decrease its reliance on microsoft. needless to say, SUNW ans INTC getting closer is good for both.

What makes you think that SPARC is down and out?

Given that Sun is going to port Solaris to Merced, what makes you think it is not?

Once Solaris is ported to Merced, it'll have to compete head-to-head with Windows NT... and we all know who is going to win that contest.

IMO, today's announcement is a sign of desperation on Sun's part.
SUNW is a screaming short.
