John, Please sign up and report to this thread your experiences. I refer you again to TCI CEO Malones' comments last Friday regarding Cable and Internet.

Doesn't sound like real internet access to me. Also, could you ask the tech people at your cable provider how they access the web?
If any of my arguments are wrong, I'd very much appreciate it if the guru's on this thread educate me. I'd love to believe.

John and others,
re:<<We have TCI offering "Road Runner" cable internet access in my area right now (haven't signed up yet, but will soon). Their literature claims it is full internet access, on 100% of the time, at "up to" (hate it when they say that) 100 times the speed of "ordinary" access.<<

Do they charge by the hour or by the megabyte?

Also, has anyone used a satellite network provider? Please comment on advantages and disadvantages. One disadvantage i noticed was an hourly rate with a megabyte charge for downloads. My goal in using this type of service is to speed up graphics intensive web sites. Obviously this could get quite expensive.

appreciate all comments,
steve h
