As with TV's in the home, flat panel displays take up less real estate on the table/desktop than do conventional CRT's. They also consume much less power. I believe they will be a technology in high demand when/if they become available at reasonable cost and high quality level. CHPS has pioneered graphics solutions for FPD's; INTC saw enough promise there to attempt to buy CHPS (the deal's still not done...). Micron Tech sees enough potential demand to build a subsidiary around the technology.

With little to actually distinguish one box maker from another, being able to offer the advantage of an FPD with the package would, IMHO, set MUEI apart and assist them in their quest to gain market share.
