No, non-random change over time can't be observed.

Have been reading Lee Spetner though. And son of a gun, NON-random micro-evolution can and has been observed.

Example, finches like those on the Galapagos were introduced to a new island without finches. Within 20 years, all the minor variations Darwin said had taken millions of years to appear on the Galapagos showed up.

Ditto with lizards introduced to the Bahamas. Ditto with bacteria that developed the ability digest nylon waste products.

Apparently life is programmed to evolve, not the way Darwin supposed though. But it fits with Genesis 1 which say God commanded the earth and the waters to bring forth living creatures. Apparently life is designed to micro-evolve.

Still doesn't explain macro-evolution though. Like the auditory and visual systems that involve both specialized structures AND specialized nerve and brain systems.
