I expect QCOM will be using GloFo quite a bit in the future for their leading edge stuff (along with TSMC)..so there may be some synergies/volume discounts to be gleaned as well from a combination/acquisition.

I think with acquisition of IBM fabs amd will have access to 22nm tech fairly quickly. What if 22nm soi is cheaper and better and good enough to compete with Intel over the next year! I have no facts but simply guessing from many posts on semi accurate. Also I've heard that 28nm soi is 40% better than 28nm bulk. Well know more in few months.
