One of my uncles in the 50's was enjoying a game of Nebraska basket ball game where he met Buffett and subsequently bought a hundred shares... he's now passed on and I don't know whether his family still owns them.

Solar and wind are relatively old technologies and will play a part, but I expect some newer technologies will come along and produce a higher quality of electric output. The concept of houses and businesses off the grid is a formative goal... but the grid itself will survive for many more years along with quality utilities.

I believe fwiw... utilities that are run well will be good investments and produce stable earnings and become looked at as they once were -- stable investments in times of wall street misery. Recently they've been viewed as investment vehicles rather then stores of value. This includes those who deliver natural gas.

My view is long term.... and I've not bought them yet.
