Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Tex.) and Al Green (D-Tex.), referred to the gesture that has come to symbolize the outrage over the death of Brown, the African American teen shot dead by police officer Darren Wilson in August.. “ ‘Hands up, don't shoot’ is a rallying cry of people all across America who are fed up with police violence in … communities all across America,” Jeffries said. Two of the members of Congress, Reps. Lee and Green, also offered their praise for the five St. Louis Rams who gave the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” signal on the field during a game Sunday night. “I saw this clip where the Rams players came into the arena: ‘Hands up; don't shoot’ … this has become the new symbol, a new statement,” Green said.

>> This proves how successful the lie has been. Even with forensic evidence, even with the video, these high-profile people will continue to believe a lie. Many blacks see racism where there is none. There was a video circulating on social media a couple weeks ago of a black man talking about "responsi-damn-ability". While the guy made a number of great points, one that was important was that it is 2014, and "you" haven't been affected by slavery, and "nobody you know" has been affected by slavery, and probably "nobody you know knows anybody" who has been affected by slavery. Whatever feelings people have about young blacks are a product of their own situations. If they want to stop seeing young black men killed, they need to stop doing the stuff that gets them killed and blaming others. Even the most irresponsible people can understand this, although it is unclear to me why CJ, tejek, and Chris can't get it.
